Edelstein: Pressure Can Help Prevent PA Incitement

A report Wednesday night said that the Palestinian Authority had cancelled the renaming of a square for Dalal Mugrabi, a terrorist who directed the infamous 1978 Coastal Road massacre, in which 37 people were killed and 71 wounded. Government Minister Yuli Edelstein said that if the report was true, it showed that “a strong stand by Israel, with the help of international pressure, can help stem instances of incitement.” Edelstein said, however, that the report was not official, and that it was possible that the ceremony would still take place.

The PA has already named a Hebron girls' school in honor of Mughrab, and her name has been attached to summer camps and both police and military courses. A girls high school in Gaza is named after her as well.
