Shurat HaDin - Israel Law Center, has launched a campaign to petition the High Court of Justice to reconsider its decision to permit Palestinian traffic on Route 443. In August 2001, in the midst of the intifada, the IDF sealed the access roads leading from the nearby Palestinian villages to stop Israeli drivers from being subjected to terrorist attacks.
Shurat HaDin says many of the terrorists came from these local villages or utilized them for safe haven. It says that opening the road barricades will mean a return of terror traffic on 443 that will place Israelis and their families at risk.
