The Knesset has rejected a bill proposed by the leftwing Meretz party prohibiting disseminiating Jewish and other spiritual materials near schools.

The initiators of the law sought to prevent organizations, groups or individuals from engaging in solicitation, marketing and distribution of a spiritual, ideological or religious worldview near educational institutions.

43 Knesset members voted against the bill and only 7 supported it.
