President Shimon Peres made several pro-Jewish comments during his visit on Wednesday to the Haredi religious hi-tech company IROX, that employs about 80 Haredi women.

"I'd say only half in jest that if I could, I would get all Jews to keep the Sabbath and work only six days a week, as the Torah commands," said Peres.

The President also addressed the problem of employment in the Haredi sector, saying: "Only women are employed in this company, I hope there will also be opportunies for Haredi men if the appropriate conditions were provided for them." According to Peres, "Secularists need to adjust the work place to allow for the orthodox to join them such as separation between men and women and time for prayers. Many Torah scholars have brilliant minds. Many people who are not religious go to the gym, whereas the Torah is a spiritual gym. You teach your mind to think and cope with challenges. Many very religious people have become scientists."
