Minister of Education Gideon Saar (Likud) has obtained security clearance to bring students to visit Jewish heritage sites in eastern Jerusalem. The education ministry under Saar is also adopting a weekly class on Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our Fathers) for 8th grade students.

As a result of the European-backed Meretz party controlling the ministry of education for many years, Jewish and Zionist values had been greatly diluted in Israeli schools in favor of more universal and Western values. In addition to bringing students to ancient Jerusalem and including Pirkei Avot in the curriculum, Saar has decided to educate students to the Jewish struggle for political freedom from British occupation and the sacrifice made by the young Zionist guerillas who were hanged on the British gallows during that struggle.
