IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi authorized a UN explosives removal team to enter Gaza Wednesday, in order to remove explosives that have remained intact since Operation Cast Lead. An IDF spokesperson said that the UN team would enter Gaza from Israel at the Erez crossing. The team is expected to spend several months detecting and detonating munitions that were fired during the war, but did not explode.
