Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai said Monday that Israel will help Turkey deal with the strong earthquake that hit the country Sunday night. Vilnai said "Turkey and Israel have been collaborating for years and we will assist Turkey as necessary". A decision regarding whether to send rescue teams to Turkey has still not been decided by the IDF's Home Front Command.

Turkey has recently taken a hardline against the Jewish state and come out publicly in support of Iran.
