A report in the New York Times Sunday reveals that the U.S. government has given over $100 billion over the past ten years to companies that do business with Iran, despite sanctions. The money was transferred in the form of grants, contracts, and tax breaks.
Most of the companies doing business with Iran are American, and a number are involved in developing Iranian oil and gas fields, which the U.S. has specifically banned American companies from participating in, because it is the chief source of funds of the Revolutionary Guards.
