The water level of Lake Kinneret (the Sea of Galilee) rose a centimeter between Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Israel Water Authority.
Before the start of yesterday's rain, Israel's largest freshwater source stood at 213.12 meters below sea level, 12 centimeters below the lower red line, below which water should not be drawn except in emergency cases such as the drought of the last few years. It was 4.32 meters below the upper red line, where the Deganya dam has to be opened to avoid flooding along the shore.
However, rains have been pouring all night Thursday and into the day Friday, which means the Kinneret level is expected to rise.
