Grisha Daitsch, in charge of standards at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Labor, issued a statement Thursday to sharpen public awareness about Purim accessories, in the wake of serious injuries suffered by a girl in the community of Magshimim near Petach Tikva, as well as those who play with toy explosives.
The statement said people should not buy costumes or accessories that don't indicate they have been submitted to the standards institue for testing under standard 562. It also says children should not be given accessories intended for adults.
