The Interior and Environmental Committee and the special committee on the problem of foreign workers toured the southern city of Arad on Thursday in connection with a bill to eliminate infiltration into the country. Arad mayor Gidon Bar-Lev expressed his support for a proposed wall along the Egyptian border to stop infiltrations. He added that those who made it should be dealt with and should be distributed evenly throughout the country instead of just in his city and Eilat.

Member of Knesset Aryeh Bibi estimated that three million would-be infiltrators are waiting along the border to come in. He said that if are 300-400 humanitarian cases in that group, he would not object to giving them assistance. A representative of the Oz enforcement unit for immigration laws said that more than 20 - thousand had  been have been caught and it was not known how many have entered without being caught.
