Education Minister Gidon Sa'ar announced on Thursday that the Israel Prize for Hebrew poety will be awarded to Aryeh Sivan.
In announcing the award, the minister said that the winner "is one of the founding fathers of Israeli poetry and his poetry is some of the best poetic work created in Hebrew during the years when the state was established. The style of his poetry is seemingly direct and simple, but in fact it's complex and mixes thought and feeling. His poetry was written against the background of scenes of the land, and is full of love for them. It has an impressive and direct social and human message."
