The Airports Council International organization has named Ben Gurion Airport the best airport in the Middle East in 2009. The organization, an international trade organization for airports, polled travelers at 118 airports around the world on 30 different criteria, including parking, schedules, facilities, checkin and baggage collection, and others.

Ben Gurion Airport has scored highly in other international polls as well, and airport officials expressed satisfaction at the latest award. In 2009, the airport saw over 10 million travelers pass through on their way into or out of the country.
