Coalition Chairman and Likud faction chairman, MK Zeev Elkin, said in response to the terror attack at Tapuach Junction that "the attack carried out by a Palestinian police officer proves that the Palestinians have taken advantage of the government gestures and removal of barriers to murder and create terror instead of for political negotiations."

Elkin called on Defense Minister Ehud Barak to immediately stop the plan to open the Tomb of the Patriarchs road to Palestinian transportation, a plan that he says could potentially lead to more terrorism.
