A special Torah dedication ceremony will take place in honor of former Chief Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, who is currently hospitalized. The final letter of the new Torah scroll will be written next week on the 1st of the month of Adar (February 15th) at the Heichal Yaakov synagogue in the Kiriyat Moshe neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The synagogue is the location where Rabbi Eliyahu gives lectures to both advanced students and the general public. Rabbi Eliyahu is a leader of Sephardic Jewry and have championed the causes of reviving Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, and the plight of Jonathan Pollard. He underwent open heart surgery in 2008 and in currently in an intensive care unit.
