The Knesset Committee on the Rights of the Child is scheduled to hold a hearing at noon on Tuesday on the ideal of beauty in the media as a negative influence causing anorexia among teens. During the course of the hearing the parliament's research and information center will present statistics on anorexia and eating disorders.
Two teenage girls will with eating disorders will talk about the disease, how they deal with it and the media's influence. Heads of eating-disorder units at hospitals will present the effect of those ideals on the people they treat. Models, their agents and fashion photographers have been asked to appear and discuss the pursuit of the ideal weight and eating disorders in the world of modeling.
The meeting will feature discussion of a bill on underweight in the modeling world and its possible effect on the ideal of beauty presented in the media.
