Recent rains and floods have produced two large lakes near the rehabilitated quarries along Highway 40 in the Rimon Crater in the southern Negev.
The first one is next to the "colored sand" at the site of the "Kaolin" quarry. The four-meter-deep lake covers an area of four dunams (one acre). The second is next to the "Plaster" quarry. The 1.5-meter-deep lake covers a dunam or quarter acre.
The Nature and Parks Authority invites the public to view the lakes in the few weeks before they dry up.
