The Knesset Education, Culture and Sports Committee marked on Monday 75 years since the passing of Rabbi AvrahamYitzchak Hacohen Kook, the first rabbi of the modern land of Israel.
Committee Chairman Zevulun Orlev told the many leading rabbis and other public figures assembled at the observance that Rav Kook was a leader and guide for all the Jews living here before the founding of the modern Jewish state, and not just a rabbi of high standing. He added that Rav Kook acted on behalf of other Jewish communities, including those of Yemen and Russia.
