The Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) announced on Monday that it is not sending a team to cover the Winter Olympics. The decision is part of the IBA's emergency financial plan and the efficiency steps to which it has committed itself. Also canceled is an overnight shift that had been scheduled to handle coverage of the games.
An authority statement says the IBA will fulfill its committment to the European Broadcasting Union to provide 50 hours from Vancouver. That will include the opening and closing ceremonies and a daily digest every evening in between. Israel has one couple competing in the ice dancing competition and a skier in the Alpine disciplines.
