The 25th of Shvat, Monday night and Tuesday, marks the 68th anniversary of Avraham “Yair” Stern’s assassination by the British. Stern was the founder and leader of the Fighters for the Freedom of Israel (Lehi), who launched a war of liberation against the British administration in the Land of Israel during the 1940s.

Several memorial events for Stern are taking place throughout the country Monday night, including the 2nd Annual Conference of Revolutionary Zionists in Jerusalem. The conference – hosted by L’Herut Tzion, Kumah, the Zionist Freedom Alliance, Am Segula and the Shomron Liaison Office – is the only memorial event taking place in English. It will feature Zionist activists who have made aliyah to Israel in hopes of impacting the Jewish state.
