The government will take legal action against parents of students at the Beit Yaakov school in Emanuel, a government official told the High Court Thursday. The students have been striking and refusing to attend class, after the court ordered that girls from Sephardic families be integrated in classes with girls from Ashkenazi families. The school had attempted to keep the groups separate.
After the decision, parents of some of the girls decided not to send them to the integrated classes. The government attorney told the court that representatives of the Education Ministry would be dispatched in the coming days to warn parents of the consequences of keeping their children out of school.
