An Israel Defense Forces unit discovered a number of weapons in the possession of a Palestinian Authority Arab who tried to infiltrate Israel's homefront at a checkpoint near Hirba Jibra, south of Tulkarm. The weapons included a pipe bomb, two grenades, a 20-centimeter/eight-inch-long knife and a number of M-16 machine-gun bullets.
The explosives were detonated in a controlled fashion by military sappers and the Arab was turned over to security services for further investigation.
