Chairman Ya'akov Katz of the National Union party called Thursday for the closure of the Jewish affairs section of the Shabak Israel Security Agency. Reacting to the release of Rabbi Yitzchak Shapiro, who had been arrested in connection with a fire at a Samarian mosque, the Member of Knesset said that the activities of the unit were "not proportional, with one goal: to give the residents of Yesha (Judea and Samaria) a bad name to prepare the final criminal idea of the expulsion of all the Jews of Yesha."
Similar sentiments were expressed by the Rabbinical Council of Yesha and Chairman Gershon Mesika of the Samaria Regional Council.
