Attorney Moti Grossman met with Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira at Shabak headquarters late Tuesday night and reported that the rabbi is being humiliated by his interrogators who are using methods that border on torture. Rabbi Shapira, who heads the Od Yosef Chai Yeshiva near the Jewish village of Yitzhar, was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion that he participated in a recent arson attack against a nearby mosque. Several students of his yeshiva had been questioned in recent weeks but no charges have been filed thus far. Many villagers from Yitzhar have claimed that police are using the incident at the mosque as an excuse to harass and libel local Jews. The meeting between the rabbi and his attorney took place blindfolded.
