US Court Clears Path for Teva Drug Approval

A U.S. court ruled Tuesday night that the patent of Merck Pharmeceuticals on Termodar, the best-selling drug in the world for treating brain cancer, is unenforceable, leaving the door open for Israel's Teva to market its generic version of the drug. Teva's version of the drug is awaiting approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the approval had been held up until the court decided on the patent. Analysts said that with the patent issue out of the way, the FDA could give final approval to put Teva's version on the market in the coming days.
