The Knesset approved the second and third readings Monday evening of a bill to stop legal proceedings against those arrested acting against the 2005 uprooting of Jews from Gaza and northern Samaria and to erase the associated criminal records. The bill, introduced by Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin and about a third of the Knesset, was approved by a margin of 51-9.
The law affects 482 files opened on 400 citizens, mostly youngsters, who were charged with misdemeanors. A number of them have finished serving their sentences.
