The cost of sending Israel's military field hospital to earthquake-ravaged Haiti and running it for a week came to about 40 million shekels, according to information received by the Haaretz business paper The Marker.
About a quarter of that amount went to flying the medical equipment to Haiti, with a similar amount spent on establishing a satellite communications center and using it every day. Another eight million shekels was spent on the Foreign Ministry delegation to the island. Each additional day costs 1.5 million shekels, not including the communications.
