Speaking at the Great Synagogue in Rome, Pope Benedict 16th said that Hitler’s true enemy was God. “The murderer of the Jewish people wanted to kill God,” he said.
The Pope also denied Vatican support of the Nazis and claimed it tried to save Jews “quietly”.
