Shin Bet chief Yuval Diskin said before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday that although chances of a third “intifada” in the coming year are low, the likelihood of increased Arab terrorism could increase in the wake of an agreement between Israel and Hamas to release convicted terrorists in exchange for captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

Diskin specifically named former Fatah Secretary-General Marwan Barghouti as a potential threat and warned that if Barghouti were to be released, he could likely assume leadership of the Palestinian Authority and launch a new wave of anti-Israel terrorism.
