Welfare Minister Yitzhak Herzog sharply criticized Foreign Minister Lieberman for his remarks yesterday at a conference about negotiations with Syria. "We have to clarify whether Lieberman's remarks reflect the position of the government of Israel," he said.
Lieberman stated yesterday the any future negotiations with Syria must take place directly and without the involvement of Turkey.
"I'm not sure what purpose Lieberman's words serve and how his statements benefit this country. The Foreign Minister gives orders to ambassadors and makes statements that don't serve Israeli government policy as I and my colleagues understand it. Therefore it is necessary to clarify this issue once and for all," added Minister Herzog.
