Radical left group Betzelem demanded that the IDF open an investigation into the elimination of the three terrorists who murdered Rabbi Meir Hai early Saturday morning, claiming that IDF troops had "executed" two of the three terrorists. In two of the three cases, Betzelem said, the terrorists did not fight back, and that they were unarmed.
Responding to the accusation, a senior IDF officer told Channel 10 Saturday night that "troops demanded that the terrorists surrender, but they refused to come outside. In such cases, troops are authorized to open fire," since it is not clear if the terrorists are preparing to fight back, or are arranging to throw a firebomb or other weapon at soldiers.
