MK Ben-Ari: IDF Elimination Proves Futility of Gestures

It emerged over the weekend that Anan Subeh, one of the terrorist murderers of Rabbi Meir Hai eliminated in the IDF action in Shechem early Saturday was one of 170 terrorists the IDF agreed to stop pursuing in a deal with the Palestinian Authority in 2007. The agreement was meant to increase the PA's ability to fight Hamas, and the terrorists on the list – all of whom were wanted by the IDF for previous security crimes - were taken off the wanted list after they promised not to commit any more terrorist acts. As such, Israeli officials said, Subeh's involvement in the murder of Rabbi Hai was a "serious breach of the agreement."

Speaking Saturday night, MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) said that the appropriate response of the person or group who took Subeh off the wanted list was for them to hand in their resignation. "Today we have proved for once and for all that those who conduct 'gestures' to terrorists are really strengthening terror," MK Ben-Ari said.
