An El Al Israel Airlines flight (072) from Mumbai to Tel Aviv was forced to turn back to Mumbai Thursday night when a bird hit one of the jet's engines. The company put passengers in hotels and made arrangements with other carriers to fly them to Israel.

An El Al  maintenance staff was dispatched to India on Friday to bring the plane back into service as quickly as possible.
