A ministerial committee on Tuesday approved for Knesset discussion a law that would allow individuals receiving welfare to own a car, on condition that it is worth less than NIS 30,000. Until now, the only cars recipients of public assistance could own was one 12 years or older.
The new law, authored by seven Mks from Shas, Labor, and Yisrael Beiteinu, would allow welfare recipients to own a car seven years old or older, on condition it not be worth more than NIS 30,000. The authors of the law said that the old regulations were "not relevant to today's lifestyle."
