IDF Southern Forces Commander Yoav Galant said Tuesday that the current "quiet" in Israel's sourh was just a pause before a new flareup of violence by Gaza Arabs. Speaking at Ben Gurion University Tuesday, Galant said that "it could be a matter of months or years, but we see dark clouds on the horizon on more than one front. We must take advantage of this time to prepare – for war, or for smaller threats."

At a Chanukah candle lighting event, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said that the current relative quiet could be interrupted "at any moment. It could be now or in the coming days," he said.
