In a media interview, Colonel Itzik Bar, Commander of the IDF's Samaria Brigade, said that enforcing the building freeze in his district was now one of his priorities. "Enforcing the building freeze requires much planning and thought on our part," Bar told Yediot Achronot. "A commander in an area like this does not deal only with preventing terror. There are other missions, and we are prepared for them," he said.

IDF troops have been providing security backup for government inspectors who have been attemping to distribute building freeze orders in the area. "Our new task has at times become a central feature of our activities," he said. "This new mission does take center stage sometimes, but so far I haven’t seen any signs of trouble from the troops," he added.
