After concerted efforts by Mks Uri Ariel (National Union), Zeev Elkin (Likud), and Uri Orbach (Bayit Hayehudi), the Knesset Finance Committee on Tuesday authorized funding to equip public transportation vehicles in Judea and Samaria with bulletproof windows and equipment. The Committee authorized and allocation of NIS 30 million for the next four years to increase the number of public and school buses and vans with the windows.
The Defense Ministry has for several years refused to provide money to outfit additional buses, and as a result there was a significant bus shortage in Judea and Samaria, where by law public transport vehicles must be equipped with the windows. MK Ariel said "I am happy that the unfair situation created by the Defense Ministry has been alleviated."
