Welfare and Social Services Minister Isaac Herzog (Labor) toured Beitar Illit on Tuesday and called for a government debate on the possibility of compensating families suffering from financial stress due to the government's ban on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria.
Herzog contrasted the passivity of the Ultra-Orthodox Beitar Illit residents with residents of more Zionist communities who are resisting the government's discriminatory ban. “Despite the residents' pain, no one here is tearing up orders or chasing away inspectors.”
