Member of Knesset Yisrael Hasson (Kadima) attacked on Sunday the compromise on female draft dodgers reached between the hareidi Members of Knesset and the justice and defense ministries, calling it a decision that constitutes capitulation to sources behind the shirkers and deception of the majority of the public that bears the weight of military service. The compromise calls for a rabbi and a military representative to sit on panels hearing the appeals of girls whose deferment on the basis of a religious life style has been found to be false.
Hasson called the compromise clumsy and confused, claiming that it harms efforts to fight draft dodging. He added that on Wednesday, he will ask that his original proposal on the matter be brought to a vote.
