Speaking Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said that it would be Israel, not the European Union, that would decide Israeli policy. "The Europeans will not dictate to Israel the results of the negotiations in advance," he said.

Ayalon was speaking at a meeting in advance of an EU discussion this week on the Swedish proposal to recognized Jerusalem as the capital of a non-existent Palestinian state.
