Govt. to Distribute Freeze Orders in 'Outposts'

Yesha Council and local authority heads said they would keep up the struggle against the government's building freeze this week, as Civil Administration officials are expected to attempt to serve building freeze orders in new communities the government terms "illegal outposts." Speaking Saturday night, MK Uri Ariel (National Union) said that "we must put heavy pressure on those who make the decisions – namely the political parties. Anything that can increase this pressure should be done," he said.

Meanwhile, a special government panel, led by Ehud Barak and Benny Begin, will begin on Sunday discussing the implementation of the freeze. The stated purpose of the panel is to find ways to make the freeze more palatable to residents of Judea and Samaria, such as giving special permits for construction when necessary, setting guidelines for the freeze – which do not yet exist – etc.
