A report in the Arabic language Al-Hayat newspaper Sunday morning claims that kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit has been examined by a team of French doctors. The doctors supposedly visited Shalit at the secret location where he is being held by Hamas terrorists last week. The paper did not report on the results of the examination.
The paper, quoting sources in Gaza, said that the deal to exchange Shalit for some 1,000 terrorists is being held up over Israel's refusal to release 44 terrorists who were residents of Jerusalem, 20 Israeli-Arabs being held for terrorist activities and one terrorist from the Golan Heights. In addition, Israel has been demanding that 125 terrorists be deported outside the country. Israeli sources had no comment on the report.
