Chairman of the National Union party, MK Yaakov Katz, said in a Knesset debate on the freeze orders on Wednesday, that "these racist orders are illegal. Sanctions against Jews simply because they are Jews are cruel and unjust. If such orders would have been given in Paris, London or Berlin the Israeli government would have held a special meeting condemning them as anti-Semitic decrees which have no place in the enlightened world." Slamming Prime Minister Netanyahu, Katz said, “there has not been a Jewish leader in Israel's history who has ever imposed on the Jews decrees such as these.”
Katz also expressed amazement that the Haredi religious rabbis and public, the main victims of the decree, allow their members of parliament to remain in the government.
