Ayoub Kara (Likud), Deputy Minister for the Development of the Negev and Galilee, was shocked to find out Tuesday that building freeze orders had been issued for development projects at the Dead Sea, along with communities in Judea and Samaria. Kara was on a tour of the Dead Sea when he was told by officials in the area that they had received stop-work orders for industrial and tourism projects that were already under construction.
"It is unacceptable that on Friday they will make a decision, and on Sunday they will carry it out without any appeal. Freezing industrial and tourism projects is unnecessary and will damage the economy," Kara said. Commenting on the opposition to the orders in communities throughout Judea and Samaria Tuesday, Kara said that Defense Minister Ehud Barak "is playing with fire, and he is likely to cause bloodshed. This decision must be discussed logically and a method of action must be developed that prevents confrontations," he said.
