Speaking about the cancelation earlier Tuesday of a meeting with him by Welfare Minister Yitzchak Herzog, Samaria Council head Gershon Mesika said that Herzog had no right to preach to residents of Judea and Samaria about "respecting the law. It's sad that Herzog, who kept quiet when he was being questioned by police, would think that he could teach us a lesson on respecting the law." Mesika was referring to police questioning Herzog several years ago over his role in the illicit funding of Ehud Barak's 1999 Prime Ministerial campaign.
"Herzog's decision to cancel the meeting with me shows how politicized the left has made governing, turning a meeting to discuss helping poor people into a matter of personal politics," Mesika said.
