Israel and Russia named a joint committee on agricultural cooperation Monday. The idea was initiated by President Shimon Peres during a meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and accompanied the visit of about 25 senior Russian officials and representatives of Russian agro-technology companies.

The purpose of the visit, in addition to establishing contacts, is to define goals for the planned cooperation. The working team is scheduled to meet in Russia next year.
