    No-Confidence Motions Defeated

The Knesset defeated three motions of no confidence in the government Monday.

The National Union's motion, based on last week's declaration of a building freeze in Judea and Samaria, could only muster two votes in favor, with 42 against and 16 abstentions.

The Kadima motion, citing harm to the weaker sectors of society, was officially defeated with 25 votes in favor, 44 against and one abstention. Defense Minister Ehud Barak mistakenly voted in favor, but Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivline refused to change the vote.

The motion by predominantly Arab parties about the state of education in the Arab sector was defeated with 45 votes against, 22 in favor and an abstention.
