MK Bibi Ires MK Tibi with Proposal to Silence Mosques

Member of Knesset Aryeh Bibi has aroused the ire of Knesset member Ahmed Tibi with a proposal that would require mosques to silence the noise of muizin and the call to prayer at various times of the day and night. The campaign of Jerusalem City Councilwoman Yael Entebbe against the noise has earned her death threats.

On Arutz Sheva's Hebrew news journal, Bibi explained that when he was Jerusalem police commander, mosques cooperated in keeping the volume down. His proposal would include the creation of a radio channel that Muslims could tune into at home, which is quiet in between the calls to prayer. He said that the model is followed in Muslim countries such as Turkey.
