Orit Struk, manager of the Human Rights Organization in Judea and Samaria, said Sunday that the government's damage suit against residents of the Samarian Jewish community of Shvut Ami Bet for costs related to its demolition "constitute a gross violation of the principle of equality under the law, which is one of the basic principles in a democratic state."

Struk added, "As long as similar suits are not filed against demonstrators from other sectors [of the public] and/or against criminals, such as: thieves, robbers, traffic offenders, etc., as long as the state does not expect the general citizenry to pay the enforcement of the law against them, it is not proper to take this drastic step against only one sector."
