The Health Ministry said Thursday that there were 8,000 complaints filed against health maintenance organizations in Israel over the previous two years. The highest rate of justified complaints – complaints which the Ministry investigated and confirmed - were filed against the Leumit HMO, with 2.09 complaints per 10,000 members, while the lowest was against Maccabi Health Services, with 0.68 complaints per 10,000 members.
In 2007, the Ministry said, there were 4,254 complaints filed, 23% of which were found to be justified, whole in 2008, there were 3,883 complaints filed, 24% of which were justified.
